Freshly placed American flags stand with headstones during Flags In at Arlington National Cemetery, May 21, 2026. Soldiers assigned to the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) have conducted the annual Memorial Day tradition since 1948, placing more than 260,000 flags throughout the cemetery to honor fallen service members, veterans, and their families.
