U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Devan Andersen, 176th Logistics Readiness Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of fuels distribution, awaits the signal for refueling completion during a forward arming and refueling point operation at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, May 15, 2026. A FARP operation allows aircraft to quickly refuel and rearm near operational areas, which reduces turnaround time, supports sustained operations and amplifies airpower lethality in austere environments. Units supporting the Alaskan NORAD Region mission conduct FARP training to ensure they are familiar with the tactics, techniques, and procedures to conduct homeland defense operations from remote locations across the Alaskan Theater of Operations.
