A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to 18th Fighter Interceptor Squadron is connected for refueling from a HC-130J Combat King II assigned to the 211th Rescue Squadron, during a forward arming and refueling point operation at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, May 15, 2026. A FARP operation allows aircraft to quickly refuel and rearm near operational areas, which reduces turnaround time, supports sustained operations and amplifies airpower lethality in austere environments. Units supporting the Alaskan NORAD Region mission conduct FARP training to ensure they are familiar with the tactics, techniques, and procedures to conduct homeland defense operations from remote locations across the Alaskan Theater of Operations.
