Personnel from Silhouette Forestry, the U.S. Forest Service and the Great Basin Institute ride a chairlift at the Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort in California to continue reforestation work in the Caldor Fire burn scar, May 12, 2026. Crews planted red fir, Jeffrey pine and western white pine along ski runs as part of an effort to establish a more resilient forest. Roughly 50,000 trees have been planted at the resort over the past two years, a small share of a broader project funded by American Forests and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation under the REPLANT Act.
