Lt. Col. Lauren Cabral of the 834th Transportation Battalion addresses attendees at the groundbreaking of a new Containerized Ammunition Holding Facility at Military Ocean Terminal Concord on April 23, 2026. Undertaken by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with U.S. Army Transportation Command, the project will add new holding pads with their protective earthen berms, lightning protection, and connective road network to the installation. The modernized infrastructure is designed to reduce risks to personnel while safely expanding the ability to support warfighter readiness and lethality. The Honorable W. Jordan Gillis, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, participated in the ceremony alongside Sacramento District Commander Col. Robert McTighe and Col. Russell Henry of the 596th Transportation Surface Brigade. (U.S. Army photo by Grant Okubo)
