    U.S. Army Pfc. Adam Chapman, with the electronic warfare platoon, 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), conducts electromagnetic reconnaissance in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) zone near Nogales, Ariz., Jan. 19, 2026. This reconnaissance provided early warning to CBP agents, leading to the interdiction and apprehension of seven illegal aliens. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
