U.S. Army soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) run onto CH-47 Chinook helicopter during an exfiltration mission in Ariz., April 4, 2026. JTF-SB, under U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), provides a variety of aerial support to U.S. Border Patrol along the southern border. USNORTHCOM is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
