Annabel Chesnet recites the poem "Girls on the Rise," by Amanda Gorman, during Pershing Hill Elementary School's Martin Luther King Jr., Oratorical Competition Wednesday, March 11. The competition featured 14 students -- members of the 'Speak Up! Speak Out! Public Speaking Club' -- who performed spoken poetry in front of dozens of parents, teachers and friends. All received an award certificate with the two orators with the highest scores moving on to compete in the district competition later this year.
