U.S. Army Spc. Jesse Peterson, a CH-47F flight engineer with 3rd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), performs pre-flight checks before flying along the U.S.-Mexico border in the El Centro sector, Calif., March 18, 2026. The Chinook’s heavy-lift capability allows Joint Task Force-Southern Border to assist other units by transporting concertina wire and other equipment to locations along the border.
