U.S. Army Sgt. First Class James Sparks, a readiness noncommissioned-officer with the 97th Aviation Troop Command, is graded while he relays casualty information during the tactical combat casualty care event on day two of the 2026 Utah Best Warrior Competition at Camp Williams, Utah, March 11, 2026. Competitors were graded on the treatments they provided to the simulated casualty, proper format and coding of their evacuation request, patient transport skills all while being timed in a combat environment. Utah National Guard Best Warrior Competition is an annual event that brings together Soldiers and Airmen from the major commands to compete for the title of Soldier/Airman-of-the-Year, Noncommissioned Officer-of-the-Year, and Senior NCO-of-the-Year.
