From Remembrance to Readiness: Chaplains Strengthen Ties at Manila Memorial

Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Charles Poore, Hawaii Army National Guard senior chaplain and 2nd. Lt. Kayne Kamminga, Guam Army National Guard chaplain candidate folds the American flag during a flag lowering ceremony held at the Manila American Cemetary and Memorial, Feb. 20, 2026, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. The cemetary and memorials contain the graves of military dead and the names of the missing-in-action from WW2. The chaplains were visiting the cemetary and memorial as part of a State Partnership Program Subject Matter Expert Exchange and allowed for reflection on their roles as military chaplains. The State Partnership Program links a State's National Guard with foreign partner nations to build long-term, mutually beneficial security relationships. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt.
