Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Charles Poore, Hawaii Army National Guard senior chaplain carries an American flag to be placed in a memorial shrine during a flag lowering ceremony held at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Feb. 20, 2026, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. The cemetery and memorials contain the graves of military fallen and the names of the missing-in-action from WW2. The chaplain was visiting the cemetery and memorial as part of a State Partnership Program Subject Matter Expert Exchange and allowed for reflection on roles military chaplains play.
