    PICAYUNE STRAND, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2026) – U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart; Maj. Gen. Jason E. Kelly, deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations; Alexis Lambert, secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; Charlotte Roman, a governing board member of the South Florida Water Management District; and Rob Moher, president and CEO of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, listen to Adam Telle, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for three pump stations.
    The Picayune Strand Restoration Project is restoring more than 55,000 acres of land. Restoration benefits are being observed in rehydrated areas, including the reestablishment of native plant communities and the return of animals such as wood storks and the endangered Florida panther.
