Frank Axelsen, the commanding officer of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Pensacola, pins the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) on Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Alex Vargas, assigned to NMRTC Pensacola, during an awards ceremony at Naval Hospital Pensacola’s command theater, Jan. 16, 2026. An awards ceremony was held to honor Sailors and staff that showcase the proficiency, readiness, and commitment required to maintain medical readiness in any environment.
