Wesley Pond, an air officer with 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division communicates over radio to the pilots of a CH-53E Super Stallion with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 466, forward deployed with Marine Aircraft Group 36 as part of the Unit Deployment Program, during the conduct a Mission Master Silent Partner aerial lift rehearsal on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 12, 2026. This training iteration was the first time an unmanned ground vehicle was validated to be lifted via CH-53E Super Stallion on Okinawa, proving a new option for how to move and deploy this unmanned ground vehicle platform within the First Island Chain.
