Andrew Wright, the commanding officer of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), salutes during a transfer of authority ceremony in Chula Vista, Calif., Jan. 14, 2026. During the ceremony, Wright relinquished authority to Lt. Col. Travis Onischuk, the commanding officer of 2nd Bn., 1st Marines, both assigned to JTF-SB. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
