260106-N-ST310-1001 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Jan. 6, 2026) A photo rendering depicts the new state of the art Child Development Center (CDC) planned for Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Jan. 6, 2026, with Navy leadership, community partners, and guests in attendance. The project’s design phase is scheduled for completion in January 2026, with construction slated to begin in February 2026. Final construction is expected to be completed in 2028. Once complete, the facility is slated to become the largest CDC in the Hampton Roads area. The project will serve as a model for future Navy infrastructure efforts, demonstrating how standardized design, innovative contracting methods, and industrialized construction can accelerate delivery and improve quality across the shore enterprise.
