Senior leaders from the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the project’s construction contractor sign a ceremonial steel beam during the topping off event for the B Wing 495 addition at JBSA Randolph, Texas. The beam signing marked placement of the final structural steel, a long-standing construction tradition that celebrates reaching full building height and recognizes the teamwork behind the net zero facility’s progress. Once finished, the facility will provide expanded workspace for the Air Force’s Personnel Center teams supporting 24/7 operations for mass casualty tracking, disability processing and other mission critical operations.
The $29.7 million project, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District, consolidates critical AFPC missions while incorporating energy saving features such as insulated concrete forms, a high efficiency HVAC system, and rooftop solar panels, creating a net zero facility.
