A U.S. Air Force member from the 60th Civil Engineer Squadron, assigned to the 22nd Combat Air Base Squadron (CABS), collects remains that were previously planted while conducting a simulated search and recovery operation for a (CABS) exercise held on Beale Air Force Base (AFB), California, Nov. 21, 2025. The exercise involved participants from both Beale AFB and Travis AFB. Hands-on search and recovery exercises reinforce the ability to support dignified remains recovery. The next simulation in the exercise involved mortuary affairs working with the remains found. CABS support the Air Force’s realignment towards cohesive and integrated units of action and deployable wings consisting of mission-ready Airmen needed in the most austere and contested environments.
