John Caprio, command sergeant major of the 89th MP BDE, both assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), prepare to case their unit’s colors during a transfer of authority ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Oct. 18, 2025. During the ceremony, Woodington, transferred authority to U.S. Marine Corps Col. Andrew Terrell, the 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division commander, in support of JTF-SB. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
