U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Eduardo Chavezrodriguez, an engineer assistant with Combat Logistics Battalion 15, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), receives a new rank pinned on by Sgt. Maj. Carlos A. Ruiz, sergeant major of the Marine Corps, after an on-the-spot meritorious promotion to the rank of Corporal conducted by Gen. Smith, the 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, during the Commandants visit to the southern border barrier in Yuma, Ariz, Oct. 17, 2025. Chavezrodriguez was recognized for his exceptional performance while operating on the southern border and was deemed promotion worthy by Gen. Smith who served as Chavezrodriguez's promoting officer. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
