To conduct a rapid ecological assessment, you have to know what to look for. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Wetlands Team uses key bio-indicators like Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus) to evaluate the health of an ecosystem. This data, currently being collected for the New York and Buffalo Districts, forms the foundation of thorough environmental evaluations, providing our partners with the critical intelligence needed to manage vital natural resources.
