U.S. Coast Guard members from the Base Seattle Color Guard team present colors during the annual Douglas Munro ceremony held in Cle Elum, Washington, Sept. 26, 2025. Munro was killed in action Sept. 27, 1942, after placing his Higgins boat as a shield for 500 Marines beleaguered by enemy gun fire on the beaches of Point Cruz, Guadalcanal, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his leadership and service.
