U.S. Coast Guard members pose for a photo following a ceremony for Douglas Munro held in Cle Elum, Wash., Sept. 26, 2025. Munro was killed in action Sept. 27, 1942, after placing his Higgins boat as a shield for 500 Marines beleaguered by enemy gun fire on the beaches of Point Cruz, Guadalcanal, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his leadership and service.
