A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron HMLA 772, Marine Aircraft Group 49, a United States Marine Corps Reserve aviation unit based at Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst, New Jersey, makes an approach on a firing point during an Aviation Delivered Ground Refueling exercise in conjunction with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMLA-773) on Sept. 25, 2025. Aviation-delivered ground refueling is a tactical refueling method that enables military aircraft to receive fuel from ground-based aviation assets. This method is particularly useful in austere environments where traditional refueling infrastructure may not be available.
