250918-O-NJ594-1031, Portsmouth, Virginia, September 16, 2025 -- Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Portsmouth hosted a chief pinning ceremony on September 16, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia to recognize the outstanding sailors who have worked hard to obtain the rank of chief petty officer in the United States Navy. During the ceremony, Chief Petty Officer Rashaan Marshall, a hospital corpsman with the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Command, salutes Capt. Darryl Arfsten, Commander, Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) and NMCFHPC Command Master Chief Francesco Maccarelli after getting pinned. Chiefs bridge the gap between officers and enlisted personnel, acting as supervisors as well as advocates for their Sailors. They are recognized for exemplary technical expertise within their rating, superior administrative skills, and strong leadership ability. The ceremony recognized 28 new chiefs from eight different commands. (U.S. Navy photo by Desmond Martin)
