250917-O-NJ594-1191, Portsmouth, Virginia, September 16, 2025 -- Special guest, retired Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Joseph Dennis, speaks during a chief pinning ceremony on September 16, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia. The event, hosted by Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Portsmouth, was held to recognize the outstanding sailors who have worked hard to obtain the rank of chief petty officer in the United States Navy. Chiefs bridge the gap between officers and enlisted personnel, acting as supervisors as well as advocates for their Sailors. They are recognized for exemplary technical expertise within their rating, superior administrative skills, and strong leadership ability. The ceremony recognized 28 new chiefs from eight different commands. (U.S. Navy photo by Desmond Martin)
