250917-O-NJ594-1188, Portsmouth, Virginia, September 16, 2025 -- Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Portsmouth hosted a chief pinning ceremony on September 16, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia to recognize the outstanding sailors who have worked hard to obtain the rank of chief petty officer in the United States Navy. Prior to the event, the chief selects displayed their covers and shadowboxes in an orderly fashion. Chiefs bridge the gap between officers and enlisted personnel, acting as supervisors as well as advocates for their Sailors. They are recognized for exemplary technical expertise within their rating, superior administrative skills, and strong leadership ability.
