Mr. Kenneth Book, from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, addressed the audience at the closing ceremony, sharing several stories of service members local to California who DPAA was able to find, identify, and finally lay to rest. Los Angeles Air Force Base commemorated National POW/MIA Recognition Day with a two-day remembrance event from Sept. 18–19. The observance included a 54-mile torch run and a wreath-laying ceremony honoring prisoners of war and those still missing in action. The torch was lit at Point Vicente Lighthouse, California, and carried in a relay by base personnel and community organizations before arriving at the installation 24 hours later. The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony in Schriever Courtyard at LA AFB, El Segundo. (U.S. Space Force photo by Van Ha)
