Commander Robert Poitinger, from Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach, addressed the audience at the closing ceremony at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The base commemorated National POW/MIA Recognition Day with a two-day remembrance event from Sept. 18–19.. The observance included a 54-mile torch run and a wreath-laying ceremony honoring prisoners of war and those still missing in action. The torch was lit at Point Vicente Lighthouse, California, and carried in a relay by base personnel and community organizations before arriving at the installation 24 hours later. The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony in Schriever Courtyard at LA AFB, El Segundo. (U.S. Space Force photo by Van Ha)
