Command Sgt. Maj. Luis Taveras, senior enlisted leader of the 704th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), stands in front of his formation after assuming responsibility of the battalion at Fort Bliss, Texas on Sept. 17, 2025. As the battalion’s senior noncommissioned officer, he is responsible for leading, training, and mentoring Soldiers while ensuring the unit remains ready to support brigade operations. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
