U.S. Army Col. Joseph Sahl, the Deputy Director of Military Advisory Group-North, discusses the validation exercise with Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, MoPA, Staff Maj. Gen. Rebwar, the Commander of the Peshmerga 2nd Division, during the 6th Division’s validation exercise in Sulaymaniyah, Sept. 10, 2025. The exercise was to assess the 6th Division’s overall full operational capabilities during simulated scenarios to show their capabilities as a self-sustaining force under Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs. The coalition continues to support enhancements of Iraq’s forces commands to develop a sustainable and inclusive Peshmerga command that can secure its sovereign borders, protect the population and ensure a lasting defeat of ISIS.
