Sgt. 1st Class Michael Haggman, an instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit's Instructor Training Group, assists Lt. Gen. Joseph Ryan while he fires the Next Generation Squad Weapon. Ryan visited the USAMU as part the Maneuver Warfighter Conference at Fort Benning September 10. Ryan is the Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans, Operations and Training at the Department of Army Headquarters.
Variations of the NGSW were available for Ryan and other leaders to fire and is part of the Army’s product improvement effort for the NGSW program.
By combining research, development, and direct Soldier feedback, the Army is advancing small arms design to increase capability and lethality across the force.
These improvements ensure the Next Generation Squad Weapon is ready to meet the demands of future warfighters.
The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit continues to play a critical role in developing the future of Army marksmanship and small arms innovation.
