Estonian Defense Forces Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Indrek Sirel, pins the NATO Kaitsel Medal on U.S. Army Spc. Lauren Powell during an award ceremony in Estonia, on Aug. 29, 2025, along with approximately 500 other Soldiers from the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. The medal provided by the Estonian Defense League honored the contributions and support the 5-7 Cavalry provided as the first mechanized cavalry squadron deployed to Estonia, enhancing interoperability with NATO forces and strengthening collective security operations.
