Command Sgt. Maj. of the Estonian Defense Forces 2nd Infantry Brigade, Helari Pilve, pins the NATO Kaitsel Medal on U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Tyler Hansen, assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, during an awards ceremony in Estonia on Aug. 29, 2025. The NATO Kaitsel Medal, provided by the Estonian Defense League, honored the contributions and support the 5-7 Cav provided as the first mechanized cavalry squadron deployed to Estonia, to enhance interoperability with NATO forces and strengthen collective security operations.
