U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Leland Blanchard, Joint Task Force Headquarters D.C. (JTF-D.C.) National Guard Commanding General, and U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald Smith Jr., JTF-D.C. National Guard Soldier Enlisted Leader, meets with Drug Enforcement Administration agents during the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force mission around the D.C. National Mall, Washington D.C., Aug. 14th, 2025. Approximately 800 National Guard service members comprise JTF-D.C., supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force. These National Guard service members provide critical support, including crowd management, perimeter control, logistics, and communications, in support of law enforcement. A majority of the D.C.
