    Soldiers from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” conduct military funeral honors for U.S. Army retired Lt. Col. George Kesnig in Section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, July 28, 2025.

    Kesnig joined the Army when he was 18 years old and served for more than 24 years, fighting through World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. His military awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Air Medal w/ 2 OLC.

    Kesnig’s spouse, Clair, was inurned at the same time as Kesnig. They were married for 70 years and passed within 24 hours of each other.

    Their daughter, Sherril Kelly, received the U.S. flag from the service.
