Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Maj. Gen. Yoshichika Ito, the commanding general of the 1st Helicopter Brigade, is given a tour of flight deck control during a visit as a part of exercise Talisman Sabre 25 aboard the America, in the Coral Sea, July 23, 2025. The visit was conducted to showcase operations aboard America and to strengthen the partnership of JGSDF and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Talisman Sabre is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening relationships and interoperability among key allies and partners, while enhancing our collective capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns.
