250723-N-EV253-1110 SAN DIEGO (July 23, 2025) - Vice Adm. Brendan McLane, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, left, awards the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal to Lt. Cmdr. Carolyn Bystrom for her selection as Pacific Fleet's Surface Warfare Officer of the Year during a change of command ceremony for the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111), held aboard Naval Base San Diego, July 23. During the ceremony, which was presided over by McLane, Rear Adm. Ted LeClair, deputy commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, served as the guest speaker while Cmdr.
