Vice Adm. Johnny Wolfe Jr., director of U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs, personally traveled to central Florida to participate in several celebratory events on July 1 in honor of the 70th anniversary of SSP. The third of four events was hosted by the Lockheed Martin at Naval Ordnance Test Unit’s Hangar Z area on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. Several hundred of the 600+ Lockheed Martin employees at Cape Canaveral attended the celebration event. As part of the celebration ceremony the longest serving Lockheed Martin employee present, Glenn Kelsey, and newest Lockheed Martin employee present, Cliff Weeks, were asked to come forward to help Wolfe the SSP birthday cake. Throughout the celebration, Wolfe could not express enough how much each employee meant to the overall mission. He said, "You are the reason why the U.S. succeeds at providing a reliable seaborne strategic deterrent."
