Vice Adm. Johnny Wolfe Jr., director of U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs, personally traveled to central Florida to participate in several celebratory events on July 1 in honor of the 70th anniversary of SSP. The second of four events was hosted by the Naval Ordnance Test Unit the NOTU headquarters building on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. More than 100 of NOTU’s sailors and civilian employees attended the celebration event. During this event, Wolfe presented Sonya Parrish with a Poseidon Award for her service in supporting the NOTU team. Toward the end of the celebration ceremony the longest serving employee present, Bruce Camody from Draper Laboratories, and newest employee present, Brianna Todd, also from Draper Laboratories, were asked to come forward to help Wolfe the SSP birthday cake. Throughout the celebration, Wolfe could not express enough how much each employee meant to the overall mission. He said, "You are the reason why the U.S. succeeds at providing a reliable seaborne strategic deterrent."
