SASEBO, Japan (June 26, 2025) – Vice Adm. Fred Kacher, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, (right) presents a Legion of Merit to Capt. Antonio Hyde, commodore, Mine Countermeasures Squadron (MCMRON) 7 during the Commander, Task Force (CTF) 77 establishment ceremony in Sasebo, Japan, June 26, 2025. The event also served as a change-of-command ceremony where Capt. Peter Haynes relieved Hyde, the final commodore of MCMRON 7, as the first commanding officer of CTF-77, U.S. 7th Fleet’s newest task force. CTF-77 directs mine countermeasure assets in the clearance of sea mines to ensure free flow of commerce by sea and freedom of movement of U.S., allies, and partner nation ships and auxiliaries, in peacetime and in conflict.
