NORFOLK (June 13, 2025) Members of the color guard parade the colors during the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) Change of Command ceremony where Capt. Richard Haley relieves Capt. Brian Hamel as the commanding officer of Iwo Jima. The change of command ceremony is a traditional Navy ceremony where the ship's crew witnesses the transfer of power from the commanding officer to the prospective commanding officer. Iwo Jima is the flagship of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Readiness Group, a force uniquely positioned to deter aggression, project power through presence abroad, and execute contingency missions with its integrated Marine Corps team in support of U.S. strategic interest.
