Su Marrow, daughter of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. William Owens, shares a moment of gratitude with Gen. Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, following a Distinguished Service Cross ceremony in Sainte-Mère-Église, France, June 5, 2025. Owens, a paratrooper with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroic actions at La Fière during the D-Day landings in 1944. Donahue played a key role in securing the long-overdue recognition. The ceremony was part of the 81st anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France on June 6, 1944.
