Dr. Patrick Livingood, associate professor and chair of the Department of Anthopology at the University of Oklahoma, speaks with Tulsa District employees during a visit to an archaeological excavation site at Spiro Mounds in Oklahoma June, 9. Spiro Mounds is located on Tulsa District property adjacent to W.D. Mayo Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the region. It is the only Native American archaeological park in Oklahoma open to the public. Tulsa District Commander, Col. Jessica Goffena along with several other Tulsa District employees toured the site to learn more about federal stewardship responsibilities for cultural resources on Tulsa District managed properties.
