WASHINGTON, D.C. - (March 20, 2025) – Mr. Bob Kapcio, left, receives the Brazil Navy’s Tamandare Merit Medal from Brazil Navy Capt. Leonardo Mesquita, Deputy Naval Attaché to the Embassy of Brazil in the United States of America, at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C., March 20. On behalf of the Commandant of the Brazilian Navy, Adm. Marcos Olsen, Capt. Mesquita awarded Kapcio the medal, which honors Brazilian or partner nation individuals who demonstrate outstanding performance in promoting the traditions of the Brazilian Navy, honoring its deeds, or enhancing its historical figures. Kapcio recently retired from federal service after serving 33 years in uniform and 14 years in a civilian role at U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet. U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet is the maritime component of U.S. Southern Command and the trusted maritime partner for Caribbean, Central and South America maritime forces leading to improved unity, security, and stability.
