The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Central Valley Flood Protection Board, California Department of Water Resources, and the San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency enjoyed a strong turnout of supporters and media at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lower San Joaquin River Project on April 18. The ceremony marks the official start of the first phase of the $1.95 billion, multi-year project to reduce flood risk for more than 235,000 residents in north and central Stockton.
