NORFOLK, Va. (March 20, 2025) Rear Adm. (LH) Juha-Petri Ruohola, MD, PhD, Surgeon General of Finnish Defence Forces, left, receives a tour from Cmdr. Mark Cruz, senior medical officer aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), through the ship’s medical department, March 20, 2025. Currently in port Naval Station Norfolk, Wasp is a role 1 medical care facility equipped with four surgical and four dental operating rooms, 38 inpatient ward beds, multiple medical and dental x-ray rooms and is staffed by a team of 22 officers and hospital corpsmen, capable to role 2 care when supplemented by a fleet surgical team.
