A U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle pilot and weapons system officer from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's 335th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, prepare to participate in exercise Yellow Sands 24.5 over the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, July 30, 2024. The F-15E is a two-seat, dual-role, fighter allowing for a weapons system officer to manage weapons and aircraft systems while conducting operations within the CENTCOM area of responsibility. The pilot and WSO are participating in a training exercise which focuses on the U.S. Central Command's effort to develop a modern defense architecture, which requires multinational integration and air, land, sea and space interoperability.
