(left-right) Jim Hurley, Air Force Civil Engineer Center Subject Matter Expert with the Readiness Directorate, Beth Rothman, AFCEC community planner with the Installations Directorate, Brig. Gen. Patrick Miller, AFCEC commander, and Kay Grosinske, environmental coordinator with the Installations Directorate, assist with the cutting of the ribbon to unveil the new AFCEC heritage wall on Aug. 29, 2024, at Joint Base San-Antonio-Lackland, Texas. In October 2012, a bold initiative was launched by the Air Force to revolutionize how the civil engineer enterprise backs Air Force installations, as this would establishment AFCEC. Since its inception, AFCEC has taken charge to drive the transformation during this dynamic period, demonstrating that centralization is not only feasible but also crucial and beneficial to the Air Force's capacity to carry out missions effectively, strengthening installations, and enhancing combat power.
